New members, please read the instructions found on the Sign Up Genius and pass on all the information below if you are sharing the sign up link with your friends:
1) As the weather warms up, please remember there's a possibility that the warming center will be closed on the date you sign up for if certain weather conditions are not met (overnight temperatures are forecasted at or below 45 degrees and/or when there's a 20% or higher chance of rain). If there is a cancellation, Donna will let me know ASAP, and I will in turn inform you.
2) Donna says spaghetti and meatballs or hot dogs are favorite meals and easy to do at the last minute.
3) Wish list items. Here are some things our friends currently need that you can drop off when you bring your food:
PAPER PLATES
PAPER BOWLS
PAPER CUPS (coffee & drinking)
NAPKINS
CLAMSHELL TAKEOUT FOOD CONTAINERS
PAPER TOWELS
TOILET PAPER
CLEANING SUPPLIES
PLASTIC UTENSILS
NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS
INDIVIDUALLY PACKAGED SNACKS
COFFEE
SUGAR
TEA
HOT CHOCOLATE
4) Other suggestions:
Entrees: 9x13 casseroles transport easily. Make sure to allot enough time to warm them up before delivery. We brought shepherd's pie, chicken & rice, lasagna and baked spaghetti but you could also do pizza, soups, stews, chili, hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc.--whatever you think her friends would enjoy. Just remember to bring your offering in a container that you will leave there. One suggestion for soups or chili is to transport it in a sealed Tupperware and then transfer it to a foil tray when you drop it off.
Sides/Salad: veggies, tossed green salad, pasta salad, etc.
Desserts: cookies, brownies, cake, etc. For health reasons please bag or wrap individual servings so guests can just choose what they want.
10 bag lunches: For those of you who prefer this option, please pack a sandwich, fruit (no apples), chips, treat & drink in a paper bag and label the type of sandwich on the outside of the bag. Donna will either pass these out to her friends at the creek later that night, or offer them to the guests at the shelter to take with them when they leave in the morning.
Drop off location: Veterans Memorial Hall is located at 522 S L St. in Livermore. Park in one of the spaces on the side of the building and enter through the side door which leads directly into the kitchen. You will drop off your items there. Please WEAR A MASK. There is strict COVID protocol at the shelter.
Thank you!
